Oman Introduces Free 10-Day Visa for Travel Visitors

A free 10-day visitation visa is now available for guests and crew members of cruise ships landing in the Sultanate of Oman, as part of an initiative to strengthen the nation’s tourist industry.

Decision No. 132/2024, which amends some sections of the Foreigners’ Residence Law’s Executive Regulations, outlines the decision made by Inspector General of Police and Customs Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsen Al Shuraiqi.

The new rules permit a 10-day visa for visitors and crew, which must be obtained within 30 days of the tourist ship agency requesting it.

A one-month visa is also offered on the same terms. This program is considered a big step toward bringing more tourists to Oman.

The following changes to certain sections of the Foreigners’ Residence Law Executive Regulations were mandated by the decision:

Article (1):

The following clause will take the place of Clause (3/c) of Article (10) of the Executive Regulations of the Foreigners’ Residence Law that is mentioned:

Visitation visas for cruise ship guests and crew:

10-day visa: The competent authorities will provide a 10-day visa to passengers and crew who want to visit Oman for tourism following a request by the tourist cruise agent. Within 30 days of the visa’s issuance entry must be performed.

One-month visa: Issued to crew members and passengers who want to travel to Oman for tourism, upon request by the tourist ship agent and approval by the relevant authority. Within 30 days of the visa’s issuance entry must be performed.

Article (2):

The following sequence will take the place of Sequence (13) of the entry visa table that is referenced in the first paragraph of Article (29) of the executive rules of the previously mentioned Foreigners Residence Law:

“Cruise ship passengers and crew can get a free visit visa for up to 10 days.”

Article (3):

The entry visa table’s sequence (12) referenced in the first paragraph of Article (29) of the Foreigners’ Residence Law executive rules will be nullified.
